The central Arizona region has gone through explosive growth over the past 9 years resulting in a larger workforce. One of the strongest assets of the region is the population of skilled workers. Not only does the region recruit from its own residents in Casa Grande, Coolidge, Eloy and Maricopa, but also from the nearby communities of Florence, Chandler, Phoenix, Tucson and unincorporated areas of Arizona City, San Tan and
Stanfield. On average, in a 45 minute radius from different points within the region, you can find an available workforce of approximately 500,000.
Historically, the central Arizona region has primarily been focused on agriculture and dairy. With the population expansion over the past few years, the region has seen a shift in the economy to include many new industries. The largest industry in the region is now manufacturing which accounts for a significant portion of the workforce and payroll dollars. The region is home to recognizable names such as: Abbott Nutrition, Intel, Daisy Brand, University of Arizona Maricopa Agricultural Center, Volkswagen of America, Hexcel Composites, Owens Corning and Frito-Lay, Inc.
In addition to these national manufacturing names, the central Arizona region is home to other employers of various industries. Some of these company’s include: ACO Polymer Products, Inc., Skycast, Corrections Corporation of America, Otto Environmental Systems (AZ), Inc., Bright International Corp., AVNET, Motorola and Wal-Mart Distribution Center. From this small sample of companies, the depth of industrial diversity can be seen.
The central Arizona region is supported by a newly created Arizona Workforce Connection One Stop. This facility is home to many different agencies with the purpose of assisting businesses with the employee recruitment process. The One Stop partners work to list positions, in partnership with businesses, on their state viewed recruitment site giving greater exposure to the company’s employment needs. In addition to the business assistance offered, the One Stop works with residents to find jobs, expand client skills, and assist with other job search related activities. The One Stop’s unique service offering, for both employers and employees, can streamline the job search process by placing qualified recruits directly with employers.
