PINAL COUNTY
In 2008, Pinal County was designated as the 2nd fastest growing county in the nation, by percentage of population, according to the U.S. Census.  Over the past 10 years, the population has more than doubled to conservative estimates of 350,000 partially as a result of growth from the Phoenix metro area spreading south into Pinal County.  This explosive growth over these 5,370 sq mi of county land, has allowed the central Pinal region to attract a diverse base of manufacturers to supplement what was historically an agriculture-based economy.

Pinal County’s regional economic activities have been accompanied by the expansion and development of additional commercial and industrial sectors, resulting in economic diversity.  From agriculture to manufacturing, to government, to distribution and service industries, Pinal County residents can choose from a wide assortment of employment opportunities.  This expansion and diversification has been facilitated by the area’s location in the major growth corridor between Phoenix and Tucson, known as the Sun Corridor, near the junction of I-10 and I-8. Because of Pinal County’s strategic location and infrastructure investment, the region is destined to become the primary logistics and distribution center supporting the Western United States. In addition, most of Pinal County, including the central Arizona region, is designated as an Enterprise Zone.
